Resetting Payment Method Attempts
To manage risk, PayNearMe restricts the number of times that consumers can attempt to add a payment method to their accounts. To mitigate the friction this may cause for consumers, agents can reset the number of payment method creation attempts so that consumers can add more payment methods.
The Add More Attempts functionality requires Edit Account permissions and access to the Customer Information page in the Business Portal. To access this page, complete the following steps:
-
From the Business Portal homepage, click View in the Customers section. The Customers search page displays.
-
Use the search dropdown fields to select your search parameters and then click Search. Customers can be searched by Order Status (i.e., All Customers, Open, Suspended, Canceled, Completed, Expired) and Loan/Account Number, Name, Email, or Phone Number.
-
A list of customer accounts displays on the Customers search page. Click on the desired account. The consumer's Customer Information page displays.
-
The Payment Accounts list displays all the payment methods the customer has added to his/her/their account. If he/she/they have exceeded the allowable number of payment method creation attempts, a red warning message displays. This message will display for each payment method type (i.e., debit cards, bank accounts, credit cards, mobile wallet accounts) where he/she/they have exceeded the allowable number of attempts.
-
Click the Add More Attempts link within the warning message for each payment method type where it displays.
-
The Business Portal resets the count for payment method creation attempts and displays a message indicating that the customer can attempt to add more payment methods.
-
Instruct the customer to add their payment methods again.
If the consumer exceeds the allowable number of payment method creation attempts again, the agent will need to manually remove unused payment method accounts to enable the consumer add more payment methods.

To remove an unused payment method, click Remove under each listed payment account. After removing the unused accounts, instruct the consumer to add his/her/their payment methods again.
